A group in a business organization, is defined as “a set of two or more people who interact with each other to achieve certain goals” (George, 2014, p.302).
1.2. Main types of work group that exist in business organizations and the stages of their lifecycle.

According to George (2014), there are two main types of work group: formal or informal. The key difference between these two is while formal work groups are deliberately established by the organization to achieve its certain organizational goals, informal ones are voluntarily formed by the employees with mutual interests and attitudes. Changes observed in the way they use the IntensCare project team over time

Over the one-year period of IntensCare Project, the original work group had been used for several purposes. Starting from August 2008, with the new leadership of CEO Beaumont, IntensCare team was established. The main objectives is to address the losing market share and re-stimulate the growth speed of Medisys. After that, towards the deadline of August 2009, major business goal is to fulfill customer’s needs of an innovative medical product with guaranteed quality and regulatory standards. In this stage, Beaumont’s parallel development approach was utilized for accelerating the product development process.
2.3. Suggestions for Medisys to make the team align well with the company’s stated purposes
The way Medisys using that team did not align well with the company’s stated purposes because each member was too involved in their own production stage and deflect the big goal. While Valerie Merz took the budget and delivery of the product into consideration, Jack Fogel focused on technical details. That explained for his frequent communication with technical members, but not Valerie. Karen Baio also had competing concerns with other members as he was in charge of meeting the quality and regulatory requirements of medical industry. Her goal was opposed to Valerie’s goal since Valerie care about the product’s launch date of August 2009 rather than guaranteed product’s standards.
