For our science project, we are going to see if we can change the average speed of an object with the help of gravitational force. Using the materials we had, we changed the average speed of the ball. Isaac Newton discovered gravitational force by seeing an apple fall and wondering about the forces of nature. Gravitational force is acting upon all of us right now. Newton's first law of gravitational force states that a particle attracts every other particle using a force that is directly proportional of the product of their masses. Gravitational force is acting upon us all right now. The Earth's gravitational force pulls us down to its surface. Gravity is what holds the universe together Average speed is used to calculate the constant speed of …show more content…
First we went to target to get our supplies. Next we laid out our materials and got them ready for the project. Thirdly we tested the experiment. For our hypothesis is that the ball going down the forty-five degree hill will have a greater average speed than the ball rolling on a flat surface. I think this because the gravitational force will pull the ball down faster than the hula hoop on a flat surface. To make the ramp we used a tape measure to measure how long we wanted the ramp. We then cut a board in half to use as a rail to keep the ball straight. After that I stapled the boards together. We then proceeded to make another board with a stand. We didn't want to carry around a huge ramp so we had two pieces that go into each other for easier transportation. After the ramp was completed, it was time to test our experiment. We placed the ramp against the wall for each experiment. We are doing this experiment to see if we can change the average speed of an object. Average speed is used to determine the constant speed of a moving object. To calculate average speed, we use the formula; Total Distance divided by Total Time. Gravitational force pulls objects
