Chapter 24: In this chapter, a reader learns that one must read beyond just the text at hand and must delve deeper into the meaning of the literature in context. In other words, to be an aware reader, one must correlate and analyze the events in regards to the social, historical, cultural, and political background. Additionally, the reader must question all aspects of the literature piece in order to fully grasp the purpose and function. The process of doing this with literature is called deconstruction.
