Iago’s Prosperous Plan
Iago 's plan is successful throughout the play because of his intelligence and targeting of Othello, a man who is very naive and easily persuaded. Iago builds Othello 's trust, which makes it easier for him to make Othello fall into his trap. Othello considers Iago a trustworthy friend, and therefore never questions his accusations. This allows Iago to blindside Othello with his mischievous plan. By noting all of Othello 's flaws, he acknowledges how to proceed with his plan without being scrutinized. Iago’s allegations are left unchallenged by Othello because of the art of his manipulation, exploits the timing of situations and plays a role of a trustworthy partner to Othello.

Iago’s clever plan of making Othello accept that Desdemona slept with Cassio all stems through the deed of manipulation. Iago plants the seed of doubt into Othello 's brain when Cassio seems to be converging with Desdemona. Iago appears to be a trustworthy friend of Othello’s as Othello continuously calls him “honest Iago (i.iii. 291)”. It grants Iago the opportunity to take advantage of Othello by appearing to him as a trustworthy partner, so he can sabotage him throughout the play as he is naive. This allows Iago to thrive and achieve success while creating an act of being credible and truthful. Othello is getting to the point where every statement that Iago utters is plainly certain to be the truth. The reason that Iago’s plan becomes so prosperous is because of the act of remaining faithful to Othello so that he will leave everything uttered by Iago unexamined. When Cassio gets fired from lieutenant and Iago earns that role it seals his plan, since he knows he has Othello’s trust.
