A child that was neglected and has encountered misfortunes can find a rainbow after the storm. Devil Kali and Subba-sahib found Nandu in the jungle. Subba-sahib means an overseer of an elephant stable. Devil Kali is the name of a female elephant. Nandu was raised and educated in the Borderlands of Nepal. Nandu was abandoned, bullied, and arrested. As the novel continued to unfold, it reveals how a young boy becomes strong, brave, proud, and finds his place in society. Nandu’s society and culture helps you understand all his trials that he’s faces with.

Nandu felt as though he did not belong at school because the boys teased, throw cow turds and plastic bottles at him. He believed, “This is my fate.
