This essay is based on the book, The Outsiders by S.E Hinton. The main characters are Johnny and Ponyboy. They are outsiders because they are greasers (which are put off to the side) and they are from the East side. Each Outsiders band together, however, they each have a different way of getting around.
From their example, we can know that to people can become closer when they share happiness and suffering. Even though family is important to Ponyboy, Jonny is also important to him, Johnny is caring, a good companion and he is so warm. One of Johnny’s changes throughout this novel is through his actions, he become more brave. When Ponyboy and Johnny have argument with the Socs, Bob laughed at them because they are the Greasers. Johnny wants to protect Ponyboy and also himeself.
Throughout the novel, Hinton characterizes Johnny as A skinny scared boy who has been kicked around to many times. The Outsiders is about Ponyboy Curtis and his brothers, Sodapop and Darry, belong to a group of poor teenage boys called greasers. Many of them have led hard lives already, and they are tough, angry and unforgiving. They often fight with the Socs, the group of wealthy, privileged boys who beat them up for fun. In the novel The Outsiders a hero is a person, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
They are heroes of greatness A hero is someone who is kind, generous, helps others, and watches over people who are in need of help. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally are all heroes because they help, save, protect, and care for one another. Pony is a hero because he helped the kids get out of the burning church.
In The Outsiders a realistic fiction book by S.E.Hinton Johnny Cade wanted his parents to not forget him and he wanted them to love him and be good parents. Later in the book he did not want to see his parents. This means that Johnny drastically changed himself in the book, The Outsiders. The way that he changed himself was that he was sensitive but later in the book, he becomes insensitive. This is because he was dying in the hospital.
Imagine you were in these situations? What would you do in these situations? Your friend is drowning by a person that has beaten you and you have the choice to kill them or run. There is a burning church there is 5 kids in there what would you do. Would risk your life for your friends and kids that you don’t know.
In the beginning of the novel, The Outsiders, written by S.E Hinton, the author portrays Johnny Cade as a weak and helpless character in the book. He`s seen as a dynamic character that has gone through extremely tough times that are difficult for him to handle alone. ``He was the gangs`pet, everyones` kid brother``, if it hadn`t been for the gang Johnny would have never felt love nor affection. He always seemed to have an anxious and suspicious look in his eyes, he was a nervous wreck. He struggled in the areas of self-confidence and loving himself, that even the idea of suicide popped in his head.
The character Johnny grows in major ways throughout The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Johnny was a greaser, His best friend was Ponyboy, the main character. Johnny was a dynamic character, he contributed a lot to the main theme. Johnny had bad parents and committed murder. Soon after his bad acts, he became a hero.
In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, Dallas Winston is known as the tough no-good hood who loves to do bad things, and though it was clear at times throughout the novel that he started trouble and could be rough, it was also made clear through his actions that there was another side to him. This other side of Dallas cared about his friends and would go through a bunch of trouble to make sure they would be alright. Three most memorable times Dallas shows this care are when he gives Ponyboy some new clothes and gives Johnny and Pony a gun and some money to have as they run away so they don’t get caught by the cops, when Dallas risks his life to go back into the burning church to pull Johnny out of the window, and in the end, when Johnny passes away, Dallas gets himself shot by the police because he didn’t want to live without Johnny, who was the only thing Dallas loved. This all together is why
This shows how he gained back his self-confidence and his ability to stand up for himself. Johnny finally found his acceptance from Dally when Dally said, “We’re all so proud of you” (148). When Dally said that Ponyboy noticed Johnny’s eyes glowing, “Dally was proud of him... That was all he ever wanted” (148). In the letter he wrote to Ponyboy, “It’s worth saving those kids...
“If you are given a chance to be a role model, I think you should always take it because you can influence a person's life in a positive light, and that's what I want to do” (Tiger Woods). Humans have a massive amount of power to influence each other both positively and negatively and that is clearly shown in The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Johnny is a character living with neglectful parents and is part of a gang consisting of a few other boys around his age. Without parents to go to when he has troubles, Johnny looks to the gang, who consistently comes to the rescue of the poor boy. In the novel, the character Johnny Cade was unquestionably most influenced by the gang because they show him what it feels like to be loved, he looks up to them,
Like Ponyboy, Johnny does not fit into the Greaser gang. Ponyboy says to the reader at the beginning of the novel, “Johnny Cade was last and least. If you can picture a little dark puppy that has been kicked too many times and is lost in a crowd of strangers, you'll have Johnny. He had a nervous, suspicious look in his eyes, and that beating he got from the Socs didn't help matters (Hinton 11).” Stated in the quote, Pony explained in detail how Johnny can be considered as an outsider.
He could take anything. It was Johnny I was worried about.” He knows how frightened and anxious Johnny is after being jumped and how he is not as tough as the rest of the Greasers. Especially without a loving family at home, Johnny only has the gang and is not able to take as much. Throughout the whole novel, Ponyboy expresses how much he cares for others both with Johnny, and
