The text, Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck is one of the most popular books in America today. The book starts out in Oklahoma during the 1930s. In this novel, the Joads are forced off their property and without work. Ma Joad hears of work in California and the Joad family heads westward hoping to find some source of income. Steinbeck describes all the struggles that they endured and the novel ends with no hope for the Joad family to survive. Ma Joad helps out a lot in this movie and she was such a hard worker. Many people look up to her and follow her actions. In the movie, you could see everyone watching Ma and you saw how much of a leader she was to everyone there. Even in tough times, Ma tries hard and displays a startling capacity to keep herself together. She is overall a great leader that no one can pass up. In Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck, Ma Joad is also someone with hidden emotions. Many people show their emotions very well and make it public so that everyone can know. Ma Joad keeps it all to herself and no one knows that she deep down is having a hard time in life. In the movie, she would be around a group of people just happy as can be, and the next scene she will be alone, and she suffers privately, not knowing what to do with her life. This is a very good trait to have because it makes everyone else's lives so much better. In John Steinbeck’s movie, Grapes of Wrath, Ma Joad is my favorite character. Ma Joad is honestly one of the selfless people in the film. She is a hard worker, and is very tough. She is a great leader and role model to everyone around her.
