“’ I don’t want you to touch me’ I lie’” (Mafi 58). Juliette isn’t like the others. She’s s a monster; she’s more than human. No one understands why Juliette’s touch is fatal, not even Juliette herself. The man in charge of the reestablishment thinks Juliette is truculent, and that’s why he wants to use her as their secret weapon. Juliette has many conflicts living in a four-wall brick cell with no contact to the new world. She faces conflict with herself, with the unknown outside world, and with the people she hasn’t know in two hundred and forty six days.
