The Laramie Project THEA100_02 A great number of the characters in The Laramie Project have their lives become deeply impacted by all the events occurring after the murder of Matthew Shepard, a young homosexual man, due to a hate crime committed in the outskirts of Laramie, Wyoming. However, I will focus on two characters that I think had their life severely impacted or had major revelations in their own life after experiencing all aftermath effects that happened after the cruel killing of a young man. Those two characters include Officer Reggie Fluty and Jedadiah Schultz.

“You cannot change what you are, only what you do,” this quote by Phillip Pullman relates incredibly to the novel All The Light We Cannot See. Although it never directly mentions this novel is about the Holocaust, it is alluded towards and creates the setting of WWII and the indescribable horrors in everyday lives during this period of history. During this time it was extremely difficult to make your own choices and listen to your moral code if it was against what the rest of the country’s beliefs. Many people accepted and acted in compliance with these beliefs because they did not want to be singled out and harmed in any way. However, some characters chose a different path for themselves amiss the chaos of the war; and you can identify how these characters changed and evolved throughout the story to become improved versions of themselves.
The support of friends and family can help contribute to a character's ability to overcome difficulties. In The One Safe Place by Tania Unsworth, Devin was able to overcome his problems with the help of his friends and family. Devin's grandfather helps Devin overcome his difficulties throughout the story. At the beginning of the book, Devin was struggling to take care of the farm on his own when his grandfather died and remembered his grandfather once said: "' You'll go there someday too, Dev.' His grandfather had told him 'When you're ready to leave.'"
However, though I understood that the organization stood for volunteerism within a community, initially I didn’t comprehend the message hidden behind Key Club’s reputation. Key Club is a service organization dedicated to supporting its community and allowing it flourish during dark times. This realization came to me as I helped organize a memorial basketball tournament honoring a lost, but never forgotten community member, a family member. Key Club served to not only recognize, but emphasize this fact by honoring our own lost girl using her passions to drive the community past its grief towards remembrance. With YiPEE, I supported my community at both personal and economic levels.
The Station Wagon The Station Wagon is really a disguised alien being. The station wagon itself is non-descript and is an indeterminable make. The wagon was white, however it is covered in mud both inside and out, even though it has not rained in New England for over a week. When Doug pulled up behind it he realized that the car had no license plates.
The main event in this article was how the book "A Wrinkle in Time" inspired many young girls to pursue their passion for science, technology, engineering, and math, and go on to do great things. The causes of this event were young women reading the book, and the effect, is them pursuing their dreams in the sciences and becoming what they are today. They were passionately motivated because they could identify with the main character of the book: a woman. Dr. Serin was inspired to pursue her dreams and became a successful neuropsychologist even though people teased her. She did not let the fact there were not many other girls who shared her interest deter her.
Can you imagine living to be over one hundred years old and being able to spend those years with your sister as your best friend? Well, in the book, “Having Our Say,” by Amy Hill Hearth, with her main characters of Sarah L. Delany as Sadie, and Elizabeth A. Delany as Bessie, tell their story about their struggles and accomplishments when growing up in the late 1800s. However, they hold a very strong position of life long issues such as, religion, racial equality, and valiancy. The sisters had very unique personalities that described who they were. In my opinion, I strongly feel I have an association with the Delany sisters, especially with Bessie.
The Walls Around Us is a supernatural tale told in alternating points of view. The two lead characters are Amber and Violet and are from different worlds and different times. The novel primarily takes place in upstate New York at the Aurora Hills Secure Juvenile Detention Center, a maximum security center for juvenile offenders. There are two events that unfold throughout the novel, the time the inmates were almost free and the time all 42 of the inmates meet death. In between the two events is Amber’s story; while Violet’s story picks up three years after the closure of Aurora Hills.
The content and style of Sondheim’s musicals work together to speak to the themes of his work. Each show has a slightly different theme, but certain ideas string together all of his works. For example, many of his shows deal with the idea of duality and the extremes; in his shows, he portrays every topic as multi-faceted, neither one thing nor the other. Consequently, his lyrics use concepts of “binary polarity and the transformations of opposites into each other” (Banfield, 9). Because he writes each character to live in the gray area between two extremes, antagonists in his stories do not have purely evil intentions.
The Hidden Meaning Nikos Kazantzakis says, “Everything in the world has a hidden meaning” and this can certainly apply to the novel Vaclav & Lena, by Haley Tanner. In the novel, one of the protagonists named Vaclav has a passion for magic and Lena is his assistant. They perform tricks for Vaclav’s parents because Lena doesn’t have any parents. One of their magic tricks is the disappearing coin trick, where Vaclav borrows a coin from his father and makes it magically disappear gaining praise from Rasia, his mother, even though his actions reveal where it went. Then, when Vaclav finds the truth behind Lena’s parents from her aunt, he doesn’t want her to hear it and decides to make up his version of it.

In A Wrinkle in Time I am going to explain what i liked and disliked in the book/movie. What I disliked was the fact that they took scenes from the book out of the movie. I also don't like that they changed the characterization when remaking the movie. Another thing I don't like is the conflict, and what I mean by that is how it is hard to figure out what the true conflict is: Man v.s. Himself or man v.s man. Last what I dislike the most is the change in mood it goes from creepy to happy to suspence and all over again.
The story “A Temporary Matter” involved only two main characters Shukumar and Shoba. The couple was facing uncommunicated issues in their marriage due to the fact of prior circumstances. Shukumar is a self-absorbed person who is lacking ambition in his endeavors as a man and a graduate student. Shukumar is the kind of man, that even though his wife is trying get over losing her baby during childbirth. He can only think about how long it had been since she looked into his eyes and smiled or whispered, his name, or those rare occasions they still reached for each other’s bodies before sleeping.
Can’t Tell Me Nothing The great interrupter, worst influencer of our generation, self-absorbed, world’s biggest megalomaniacs, and extreme narcissist. These are the terms that are commonly used in reference to Kanye West. To many he is a menace who has no positive contributions to society. Some even believe that he is a self-proclaimed God who sees himself as higher than any other individual.
