Can’t Tell Me Nothing The great interrupter, worst influencer of our generation, self-absorbed, world’s biggest megalomaniacs, and extreme narcissist. These are the terms that are commonly used in reference to Kanye West. To many he is a menace who has no positive contributions to society. Some even believe that he is a self-proclaimed God who sees himself as higher than any other individual. These are the things we are told, these are the things we believe. Society is not made aware of his benefit concerts, charity runs, or his founding of organizations such as the “DONDA foundation”. They are hidden in the dark to these things and are simply blinded by his failures. However to truly understand Kanye West one has to block out all the general preconceptions and actually look deep down within him, his life as well as his struggle before judgement can be placed. West first made his debut as a menace to society back in 2009 at the VMA’s when he simply stated “imma let you finish but...” This quote has been the leading argument for many as a way to validate the idea that he is a horrible person. He is constantly perceived to be a spiteful and heartless individual, but his actions outside of the public eye suggest otherwise. Today in society we are simply influenced by social media, we allow it to make judgment and simple life choices for us. Kanye West’s image is simply based on social media perception. Similar to Orwell’s book 1984 we as people are letting social media become our Big Brother, allowing it to feed us information without questioning its credibility.
