Characteristics Of The Titans

Being one of the Titans who built America was no easy task. The men who made our country what it is today, had traits such as innovation, hard work and competitiveness that left a stamp on United States history. They were the ones who came up with brilliant ideas that we would otherwise not have today. The men and traits I am about to share with you will take you into detail about just what it takes to be an American Titan. The first trait a titan should have is innovation. Innovation is the process or act of introducing new ideas, devices or methods. John D. Rockefeller demonstrated this when he was forced to find another way to drill and receive more oil. When Andrew Carnegie found out that original plan for a new bridge would not work, he decided to take a risk and use steel instead of wood to complete the project. Cornelius Vanderbilt, a strong competitor, needed a way to stop Rockefeller’s growing success. To do this, he blocked all oil cargo from getting to where it needed to be. Innovation is important because without it, we would not learn to use our resources or use our heads to solve a problem.

Andrew Carnegie shows us this trait when he had to get a job when he was just a shy 12 year old. Carnegie worked to support his family because his seemed to be non- existent father had left them. Thomas Edison also reveals this trait when he attempts to build an electric light bulb one-thousand different ways. While others thought this was a waste of time and effort, Edison explains that he simply found one-thousand ways not to build a light bulb. Lastly, J.P Morgan, learned at a very young age how to be hardworking. He wanted to replace Rockefeller’s role of lighting America. He worked to convince others that electricity would be the “new
