For the story, “ Most Dangerous Game” I had one question. What kind of animal is being hunted in the story by General Zaroff? I think the animal that is being hunted is a hybrid of the Cape Buffalo and the jaguar. In the story General Zaroff said the jaguar is super fast and he needed a challenge.

In the 1986 novel Under A Cruel Star: A Life in Prague 1941-1968. Is based off of the actual events that occurred in the authors Heda Margolius Kovaly’s ife. The memoir explains her struggle of escaping during the Holocaust and surviving during WW2 under the totaliariat rule of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. In post war Czechleslovakia many of it’s citizens embraced the idea of a communist society. Utilizing the information given in Kovaly’s memoir and the textbook, I believe most citizens were embracing towards communisim because they (the citizens) were under the impression that the democracy let the Nazi party take over and failed to defend the country against Hitler.
One would think the general is talking about hunting animals with Rainsford when he is actually talking hunting Rainsford himself. It is also ironic when General Zaroff is described as “civilized”. In a way, he is civilized— his fancy clothes,nice home, and spares no expense. Although he is civilized in that way, he enjoys to kill other humans
In the story 'The Most Dangerous Game', the character Zaroff states,"The weak were put on earth for the strong 's pleasure. " I believe this statement is incorrect. One reason it's incorrect is because there is no such thing as a weak person. Another reason I believe that it's incorrect, is for no one is put on earth to solely please anyone. The last reason I believe it is incorrect, is because the world as a whole has changed.
Secondly, General Zaroff evokes a level of terror never experienced before by the victim. When Rainsford first meets General Zaroff, he thinks of him as an affable man but really the General has been waiting to hunt Rainsford ever since he entered the house. As the General and Rainsford are talking about hunting General Zaroff reveals that hunting animals does not interest him anymore. The general said “We will have some capital hunting, you and I” (Connell 6). This statement makes Rainsford nervous because the General says he does not hunt animals anymore but he still hunts a very dangerous game.
Zaroff Character Analysis The way people develop their personality is part of the nature vs. nurture debate. Some say that people are born with their personality traits while on the other hand, some say that people are simply influenced by their environment. The B.T.K cases are a prime example of how a person can be born with the traits of a killer. Dennis Rader developed his taste to kill at a young age according to the media; he grew up in a nice family home.
He eats, dines, and dresses like the highest members of society. On the other hand, he has a sinister, dark side that leads him to hunt men for sport. In this passage Zaroff reveals some of the ideological underpinnings that drive his desire to hunt. As is evidenced by the passage, he truly believes that he was made specifically for this single pastime.
Rainsford is initially shown to not show any empathy to the wild animals he hunts. Zaroff is no different, with him declaring, “I hunt the scum of the earth: sailors from tramp ships--lassars, blacks, Chinese, whites, mongrels,” (9). Zaroff hunts humans who have the unfortunate luck to arrive on Ship-Trap Island. Zaroff gives no second thought about hunting humans because he finds them to be the perfect sport to hunt, and finds pleasure in hunting them. In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, the protagonist, Sanger Rainsford, and the antagonist, General Zaroff, are similar characters.
‘The Most Dangerous Game’ Contrast Paper ‘The Most Dangerous Game’ written by Richard Connell that explores General Zaroff hunting people is wrong or right. The paper is being written to explain the difference in both characters from the short story to the movie. Like Zaroff was telling Rainsford the hunting people is like hunting animals also Rainford disagree; because, he thinks it still murder. This effects society because it allows them to search their morally as to what they think is truly evil. Sometimes humans think murder is okay.

In “The most dangerous game” written by, Richard Connell, he uses many devices such as: characterization, plot structure and theme to contribute to the overall meaning of the story. Characterization is a big part of the overall meaning of the story which is that survival is of those who are smart, cunning, and can adapt to their environment. The protagonist Rainsford is at a constant battle with the antagonist General Zaroff. Throughout the entire short story they both have similar minds sets and then farther along the main character 's mind set develops into something more. The reader can almost sense a self centeredness, and that he believes that there are only two type of people in this world, “the hunters and the huntees”, and he believes that he is the hunter.
Firstly, in the story The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford is justified in killing General Zaroff because on the island the only way to live is if the stranded people hunt or the stranded will in contrast become the ones being hunted. In the beginning of the story Rainsford is talking to Whitney about jaguars. Whitney is stating that the jaguars must feel some sort of feeling like fear or terror but in contrast Rainsford states that the jaguars have no understanding of feelings. Then Rainsford is put on a island where he symbolically represents the jaguar and General Zaroff would symbolically represent the hunter.
General Zaroff is different, to say the least, in Richard Connell’s book, “The Most Dangerous Game.” Rainsford is stranded on a deserted island, or so he thinks. Rainsford comes upon a mansion that is owned by General Zaroff. He knows of Rainsford, who is a renowned author of a book about the hunt, as well as everything and everywhere Rainsford has hunted. General Zaroff is also a hunter, but he goes to the extreme.
