Characters in almost every story have a hero and a evil. That that evil could be nature, a person, or even a unimaginable monster. The hero tends to have traits that are easily relatable and more importantly what we look for as a good person and a good main character. In the epic “Beowulf” by Seamus Heany, we value Beowulf as a Hercules. A mortal man who is the strongest man alive yet, still mortal. Some values that we look at for a main character are courage, relatability, and loyalty. These traits or similar ones are used in almost every main character in books, movies and tv shows.

One of the most important traits in a main character of any kind is their courage. These heroes will do anything, fight any evil before them, and just do what any normal man wouldn’t. Beowulf was the bravest of them all and even when there was a fire breathing dragon standing before him, he stood his ground and prepared for battle. If a main character like Beowulf would to just say the dragon is scary I'm going back to the geats, there would be no story. Anti-heroes try to do the opposite of what any other story tries to follow. Anti-heroes take everything we like about heroes and take that all away. They aren’t loyal, brave or even relatable. Some may be invisible or just go out of their way to do bad. These heroes generally get views because of their comedy. With their comedy there is usually a weak background in which this anti-hero just jokes around and doesn’t necessarily have to do much that a hero would like tell a story.
