Known around the world as one of the greatest British novelists in history, Charles Dickens has written many great pieces of work. He has written novels for all age groups which have been considered as classics. Some writers make it to fame easily, starting off with rich families and spoiled lifestyles, however that was not the case for Charles. Throughout Charles’s life, he stumbled upon many obstacles, but these obstacles did not achieve at keeping him from reaching his goal in the literary world. He used his rough times in life to put together amazing pieces of work. Childhood and life experiences, other’s artistic interests, and the way society was in Charles Dickens’ lifetime all contributed to the creation of his works.

Like most people, Charles did not have an easy childhood. He was born in Portsmouth, England, in 1812, where he and his family lived until they moved to Chatham, Kent, only four years after his birth. Charles’s parents did what they could to fulfil their dream of becoming rich, but did not succeed. By 1822, the family had relocated to a small, poor town in London, England. She told him that reading his father’s books, although they may have been difficult for him to read at the time, would improve his reading skills, and it did.
