The Epistle of I Peter The Epistle of I Peter is the penmanship of a brave, impulsive, confident, unstable and affectionate author name Peter; some people would reference him as Simon Peter. He is the one who left his fishing net to follow Jesus. The image most people would remembers Peter for, is walking on water to Jesus, and he took his eyes off Jesus and he began to sink. Yet, Peter is depicted as one of the most human and most real.
This epistle (letter) is the epistle of hope; it is written to give counsel and comfort, to strength faith and to inspire courage. Peter writes the first proportion of this epistle to the Christians living in an area, now known as Asia Minor. He also states that the purpose of the elect is to live in obedience to Christ and to become partakers of all benefits secured by Christ death (Erdman, page 54). Furthermore, Christians are to live lives set apart from the world; they owe everything to God who sanctified them by his Spirit, through the blood of son Jesus Christ. The resurrection was not just something that happen, to Peter it holds a prominent place in his writing. Peter remembers the power of transformation that took place, as it relates to the resurrection; and salvation comes only by the grace of God. In the Epistle of 1 Peter every believer can inheritance this living hope; and it is given unto them throughout eternity.
