Charles Town/Difficult to settle in Have you ever move to a new to area where you had to start all over from scratch? Was is difficult? People who would move to a completely different area just to start all over were referred as settlers. So why was settling in Charles Town difficult to settle? The settlers wanted to settle in Charles Town, but there was many obstacles that they had to overcome before they could settle. To move past the obstacles they started to grow their own crops and build their own shelter as a result of doing so Charles Town started to come together. In order to make Charles Town work settlers had to go through obstacles to overcome, such as geography, resources, and diseases. Geography made it difficult to settle in Charles Town. According to the map Doc A of an early settlement of Charles Town. Obstacle the cartographer encounter on making the map because of territories, open land has or not have been claim and barrier island. On the map on Doc A according to the cartographer showed that there was a abundant of water and soil. In Doc B, reference, that certain areas of soils were hard it use due to the mix of clay, loam, and marl. Swamps also made it difficult for settlers to settle in Charles Town resulting to not being able to grow crops on a swamp or even near one. If no crops are growing there's no food for the settlers or income coming in from selling crops since no crops are growing. In Doc C, due to swamps numerous amounts of prey would use the swamps as a hideout and hunt for deer.
