People in war have to face a constant battle between each other and themselves. Henry and Charlie are two boys who went to battle and did not come out the same person they were before. They are both facing constant battles even after the war. There are some similarities and some differences, but overall, they are both about two boys battling the tragedies of war. Here are a few of the similarities between the two books. They were both young kids who became soldiers too soon in their lives. Both had no right to be in battle at their age. Another similarity is that they both got wounded. Charley got shot and Henry got hit in the head with a gun. Charley and Henry got hurt physically and intellectually. First, even though Henry was of age his mother did not want him to enlist, but he went against his mother 's wishes and enlisted anyways. Charley was under age, but his mother still lets him enlist. Second, Charley was excited for the battle and he was ready to fight. Henry was not excited he was scared to fight and regretted his decision to enlist. Finally, Henry had no courage, he was not ready to fight in battle. Charley had courage, he was ready to fight and wanted to be in a battle and fight.
