Comparison Argument Morrie and Charlie are two very different characters, but they do have some similarities. They are both very positive people. Also they both have a disorder/disability. In Tuesdays with Morrie it talks about how Morrie has ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease which can also be explained as a disability because it weakens your muscles. Morrie is a very likeable person.
One similarity is the situation these two narrators are put through.
He talks about how he wanted to live the one life he had to the fullest. On page 37 on chris log he says “ but this was not important. It is the experiences, the memories, the great triumphant joy of living to the fullest extent in which true meaning is found. God it's great to be alive." What Chris says in this entry was true to him.
His findings also make him feel happy which is great to come from a discovery which he made after the surgery. In Charlie’s last progress report when he is saying personal goodbyes to everyone who helped him on the journey to becoming smart, he mentions, “Evry body feels sorry... I dont want that... Im going someplace where nobody knows that Charlie Gordon was once a genus and now he cant even reed a book or rite good [sic],” (Keyes 27). Charlie is moving out of New York because he does not want people to feel sorry for him anymore.
Such as how the main characters faced death countless times. When Louie was being surrounded by 3 enemy planes which filled his plane with 594 holes, and when Pi was dying of hunger. Instead of regretting and despairing, Pi and Louie both persevered to live on. However, there are more differences than similarities. Such as how Louie was in a plane, and Pi was in a lifeboat.
He wants us to all act as one and to move forward in society. He makes this known by stating “We are one, one people and one love. Thank you very much.”. This being his last remark it is a very important and heavy statement, which is why it was crucial for this to be it. It makes it so important and crucial for society to understand that we are all just one people to be
I think Charlie from the extract of the book Miracle’s Boys by Jaqueline Woodson was the person that had changed the most, in Focus on Change. When Charlie from the book Miracle’s Boys came home from the juvenile detention centre, he had changed a lot. According to Lafayette’s description, Charlie had become as mean as his older brother Aaron.
He knows that his legacy will live on, and be something worth being remembered
By removing the images of what it meant to truly live, placed there by his environment, and looking within himself, his attitude towards death changes to allow a more holistic acceptance of what is to
Poe uses many examples of irony within A Cask of Amontillado. The three examples of irony that will be discussed in this essay are, Montresor’s first words towards Fortunato, the conversation regarding the masons, and Montresor’s reaction to the crime. The first example of irony is Montresor’s first words towards Fortunato. Fortunato thinks Montresor is happy to see him because of his experience. Poe says, “My dear Fortunato you are luckily met” (237).
He does not care about his life in and of itself, but he does care about the meaningful enjoyment or fulfillment it can provide him. He continually seeks to improve his position in the world, but very specifically while not giving up any enjoyment or fulfillment. An explicit illustration of this is during his conversation with Wells right before executing him, “You’ve been giving up things for years to get here. I dont think I even understand that. How does a man decide in what order to abandon his life?"(McCarthy 177-178).
It was wrong for the doctors not to tell Charlie the risks of the surgery because one of them was him dying. Charlie realized the horrible mistake he made, and would probably end up paying for it, even though it was the doctor’s fault. Charlie had no regrets for having the surgery done to him, because he achieved his goal of becoming smart. Before Charlie started to regress, he tried to correct what went wrong with the surgery because he was the only one in the institute who could. Charlie knew that he was happier when he was ignorant, because he could not see how cruel the world actually was.
His attitude was the same, but his tone was different. He was more like Morrie when it came to school. But the
Also, Lennie is forgetful, which means that he forgets a lot, he only remembers the stuff that George says. Christopher analyses everything surrounding him and remember everything someone says, he doesn’t always listening though. To sum up, there are as many similarities as differences. They have a lot in common, but they also differ a lot.
Optimism is hopefulness for the future, and, like me, most people get their optimism from their roots, or how they were brought up as a child. My parents would always remind me from a young age that being pessimistic will not help you achieve your goal, so you might as well be optimistic and try. They have always taught me from a young age, and never denied or doubted, that with optimism comes opportunity, and that optimism is, in fact, the key to success. Over the years, I’ve learned that the more optimistic you are, the more creative you can be. With optimistic attitude, one can generate new ideas and create possibilities to move forward faster and more efficiently than at normal times, due to an open mind.
