Charlotte Bronte is one of the most famous female authors of all times. She is known for her feministic views and use of the romantic writing style. She has written many famous books such as The Professor, Jane Eyre, and Shirley. Each one of these books portray a different view of her life. (Bossche) Jane Eyre is said to be her most famous piece of work. In the novel Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte, one can see Bronte’s use of symbolism and romanticism from the relationship of the main characters, Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester.

In the novel Jane Eyre, there are many similarities between Jane Eyre and Charlotte Bronte.She used great detail in the novel, Jane Eyre. She was able to do this ,because she vividly remembered the moments when these things happened.(Bossche) Charlotte was sent away to a very harsh school at a very young age. This is where she got the idea for Lowood School. She was a teacher after she completed school, just like Jane Eyre. She later became a governess to a family. This makes Jane leave Rochester because she does not want to be his mistress. (Wyatt)

St. John Rivers is another character that separates Jane and Rochester. When Jane runs away from Thornfield Hall and Rochester, she is taken in by the rivers family. (Gordon) They take care of her and help her get back her strength. St. John wants to marry Jane. She feels as if he does not truly love her. She believes that he just wants her to help him be a missionary. (Wyatt)

After Jane runs away, she realizes she only wants to be with Rochester. She feels that she is not equal to him. She eventually gets word that a family member has died. He left all his money to Jane. Jane now can financially support herself. She then hears his voice calling her back to Thornfield.(Wyatt) When she arrives, she sees Thornfield has burned down. She finds out that Bertha jumped out and now has died. Rochester also was blinded. This can symbolize that Rochester is more equal and dependent on Jane. This event, plus Jane gaining money, helps the two have an equal
