Charlotte’s Web is a well known children’s book written by E.B. White. It takes place on Zuckerman’s farm where a little girl named Fern lives. This is a book about friendship between Fern, the farm animals and most specifically between a pig named Wilbur and a spider named Charlotte. Wilbur is the main character of the story. Charlotte is the main supporting character. The beginning of the story starts out with Mr. Zuckerman, a farmer who is checking over his new litter of pigs. A usual practice of farmers is to keep animals that are strong, healthy and able to produce and contribute to the farm. Those that are runts, sickly and unhealthy often end up slaughtered. Zuckerman. She learns of Mr. Zuckerman’s intentions to kill the runt pig at breakfast one morning. Upon hearing this, she emotionally asks if she can keep the pig for herself and raise it. Surprised by his daughter’s plea and insistence, he gives in. Wilbur becomes Fern’s pride and joy and takes very good care of him. While Wilbur is in his pig pen away from Fern, he became very lonely until he met a special spider named Charlotte. The two became fast friends. Charlotte is a highly intelligent spider. She had been living in the rafters of the Zuckerman’s barn for some time and has learned the ways of the farm life. Wilbur was happy as he met other animals on the farm. He met a talkative goose, a grouchy lamb, a wise old sheep and a rat named
