See Chaucer’s attitude to life through the << Canterbury Tales >> In the story of <>, tales has describe about thirty pilgrims that were going to worship Saint Thomas at Canterbury. As the narrator and also the writer of this tale, Chaucer has met/create out many kind fourteenth century British people. Like the Monk, Nun’s Priest, Pardoner, Somnour, Parson, and etc. In the way travel to Centerbury, everyone has taken turns to tell stories out of their knowledge for entertainments, these stories and description that are used is very representative of the value to the people at that times. He is really wised but as it come to the sinful and principle things, he would stand up strong against it, even that person was Pardoner and his one of the powerful symbol of ‘Church’, “Swiche glaring yen hadde he as an hare… A vois he hadde as smal as hath a goot, No beered hadde he, ne never sholde have, As smoothe it was as it were late yshave, I trowe he were a gelding or a mare.”(Chaucer L686). Chaucer described his eye has like a hare, small and sprinkle with evils, to mock his greediness and duplicities. The Pardoner‘s voice is like the goat, and from that it reflect that he is make up stuffs in order to get the money from the people that wants to atone their sin. So from here you could see he is also really justiciable to the thing that is consider not right, and he is not a flip-flopper. He has principle of his own, and had a correct overlooks on the world, life and values. As the example shown above, we can concluded that Chaucer is a positive character.
