How to Train for Cheer Tryouts The best way to train for cheer tryouts is the following. The first thing you need to do is to get in shape. The best way to do this is by working out. The best exercises to do are pushups, situps, jumping jacks, and weighted squats. You can 't skip running in your workout because the cheerleaders run at cheer practice. You also need to eat healthy foods. Also, with all this working out you need to drink lots of water. The second thing you need to do to train for cheer tryouts is to enroll in tumbling. In previous years, you could make the team without being a tumbler but now that is not the case. The Varsity has a few girls who can 't tumble, But the Junior Varsity girls can all tumble.
