An important activity that I have endured throughout not only all of high school but since I was four is cheerleading. This extraordinary sport has been a huge factor in shaping me into the person I am today. This experience has taught me patience, leadership skills, perseverance, and most importantly trust. My freshman year, I sustained a meniscus injury that required surgery. Although I was faced with what at the time felt like the end of the world, I showed up to every practice and encouraged my teammates. As a couple years passed, I gained my skills back and was able to contribute to my team. My team is a squad of 30 girls. Being captain at times can be quite challenging because there are 30 different personalities, which means that there are normally disagreements or attitudes that I have to help solve. My main goal is to keep our team strong not only physically, but mentally. I strive for an unbreakable bond with each of the girls and that we stick together as a family. Over the years, I have realized that nothing is harsher than girls to other girls. I have learned patience and problem solving not only through AP Chemistry but through these girls I have come to love like family. I help these girls in every way possible and I will continue to stay in contact with them for years to come. I wouldn't trade these last 14 years of cheerleading; but instead, I wish for more. I have given these girls my trust and all of my love. Not only have I become who I am through my team, but also through my high school coach. She came in new my freshman year when the program was at a low. She made a promise to me that if I stuck with her until my senior year together we would rebuild Boyle Cheerleading.
