One Fair’s Impact on the Whole World The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893 was an event that as a whole, showed off the world's cultures, ideas and innovations. The Chicago World’s Fair brought the all of the world to one location, sparking a new wave of enthusiasm for a better future in America. The economic boom that followed the fair brought continued life to a growing America. Industrially, the fair influenced mass production and urbanization as new products and ideas made the American way of life enjoyable. The Military might displayed at the fair started the U.S movement to bigger, better and more accurate weapons. Chicago real estate became super valuable leading up to and after Chicago got the bid for the World's Fair. The fair directly affected Chicago's economy by boosting real estate value. The fair also benefited Chicago’s and America’s economies dramatically as soon as the fair opened. Visitors from foreign countries as well as domestic visitors helped the economy buy purchasing tickets to the fair and supporting local business. The attraction which saved the fair from bankruptcy was the ferris wheel.“The Ferris Wheel quickly became the most popular attraction of the exposition. Thousands rode it every day. In the week beginning July 3 Ferris sold 61,395 tickets for a gross return of $30,697.50. The Exposition Company took about half, leaving Ferris an operating profit for that one week of $13,948 (equivalent today to about $400,000)” The Ferris Wheel became the one star attraction that the White City needed.
