Early in life Truett Cathy’s family was beaten financially and emotionally by the Great Depression. His father, an insurance salesman, wasn’t getting a lot of work, so he was going through a tough time. As a result, Cathy looked to his mother for emotional support. It was a rough time for young Cathy but he made do. Since his father wasn’t bringing in a lot of money, his mother also provided financial support for the family. She was renting out the house and taking in boarders. This inspired Cathy to help out too. Cathy helped the family out by selling Coca-Cola, operating a paper route, and performing odd jobs. Chick-fil-A has been helping restaurant team members achieve their dreams of higher education. That has been happening since 1973. He has also donated surplus food to local shelters and soup kitchens. In addition , they feed victims and first responders from disasters. Cathy wanted Chick-fil-A to be more than a chicken place. He wanted it to be a place of comfort. He wanted people to speak well of Chick-fil-A. He held his stores up to a high standard. Truett is just a warm-hearted forgiving man. Even when a boy stole his gnome out of his restaurant window, he didn’t even call the police. When the boy’s sister came to apologize for the boy, he wasn’t mad. This was very kind of him. He always has a smile on his face and is greeting people. When the plane he was on got delayed, he got up and gave everyone on the plane a free chicken sandwich. This lightened everyone’s spirits. Most of his life was him just working. He also wrote 3 books in his spare time. All of these books are very good, and they are very informational too. He has been spreading wisdom and life lessons his whole life. Grievously he passed away in 2014, he was
