Child labor was a major issue that had carried out for centuries. These laborious children worked tirelessly day by day and eventually needed saving from this horrendous lifestyle. The people who answered this cry for help were known as reformers, who began their take of charge in the late 1800’s. They were the first to give the children a fighting chance against the back-breaking labor industry by using various methods and techniques. Reformers made an impact to end child labor in the early 1900’s by forming organizations, organizing strikes, and by unveiling the issues of child labor to the public.
During the years of fighting against child labor, several different organizations were formed. At first, smaller child labor reform organizations were formed. One organization began in Alabama, while another started in New York. Both organizations …show more content…

The Children’s Bureau also worked with the law to better the lives of hard working children. One of the major wins for the bureau was the passing of the Fair Labor Standards Act (Child Labor Standards). The act set an age limit on who could apply for industrial or agricultural work. This new age limit now no longer gave children a reason to not attend school, since they were no longer allowed to work until the age of sixteen. The Children’s Bureau also worked for better schooling regulations to better enforce the policies of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Even though these organizations helped with the passing of new regulations, these new laws were restricted from ending child labor. This was due to the outlawing of child labor being considered unconstitutional. (Smith). This was a major setback for all reformers and child labor committees. Several bills were also not passed, even with the great persuasion of the committees. All child labor organizations had setbacks, however what they accomplished still contributed a great deal to the child labor
