“I can't afford to raise you,” is what many parents in China think when having to deal with more than one child, but how does this affect the lives of the children abandoned? To avoid imprisonment, or extra tax and struggles added onto an already difficult life, many of these parents leave their kids as young as a few months old. China’s Two-Child Policy has caused over 61 million children to be abandoned by their parents, left on the streets, shops, and hospitals all over China, in hopes that someone will find them and have a better life, most often that's not the case. In most cases, many of these children suffer with abandonment, trauma, and depression as they grow up. While many of these Children will be lucky enough to be taken to an orphanage, many of these children will not. Many that aren't found, will end up involved in crimes and human trafficking. Being one of the ones taken to an orphanage doesn't mean they are saved from human trafficking. Having a toss up of not knowing if they'll ever have a chance to live their life to the fullest. if they'll ever have a forever place to call their home. kidnappers forcing them to become human traffickers. Not only has this caused children to mature faster, become dependent on themselves, having them be responsible for finding a place to call home, food to eat, its caused major social effects on the child. a policy in favor of the boys in the family, many girls finding themselves bought by complete strangers, being sexually exploited at such a young age due to the fact their parents weren't able to keep them because of this policy.
