During the victorian times childeren were viewed as nothing more than property. They where abuesed in maney ways such as child labor, fiscal and sexual abuse.There are now laws ristricting children from working in dangerus jobs and providing them with fair pay. These laws also prevent children from working long hours but during the victorian times there were no such laws.Childeren of the victorian era were emoployed as piecers, standing at the spinning machines repairing breaks in the thread. Some where scavengers, crawling beneath the machinery to clear it of dirt, dust or anything else that might disturb the mechanism. Domestic servants worked 80 hour weeks.Thousands of boys were employed in glass making industries. Glass making was a dangerous and tough job.The process of making glass includes intense heat to melt glass .When the boys are at work, they are exposed to this heat. They ussaly worked long houres.Children in the workplace still remained largely unprotected from the mistreatment at the hands of employers and co-workers. even if there parents knEw about the abuse they couldnt do anything about it becouse the needed the money badly.If they didnt do there jobs to the sadisfaction of there bosses they were hit or they were given even less pay.If they angered there co-workers or bossed they were hit.Children of the victorian era faced hardships children now will never face.This is all thanks to the few people that saw the unjustness the children went thow and worked to fix it.Two commities who helped children during this time where The Childrens Aid Society(1890) and The National Child Labor Committee(1940).
