The Community Health Centers HEALTHY CHILD program is devoted to childhood immunizations. Immunizations are the most cost effective prevention program and have the ability to protect from many diseases that can result in hospitalizations, healthcare provider visits, and premature deaths. This program is operated by the Community Health Center (WACHC) which provides health services to the community of Windy Apple, Washington. The HEALTHY CHILD program immunizes 4,000 children a year to protect the health of the community and to ensure that children are vaccinated for school. GHCF has a strong mission/purpose to support the health and wellness of the community and advocates for change through the Childhood Immunization Initiative to increase vaccination rates within the population. The foundations bylaws also include addressing social determinants, inequities, and structural issues that negatively affect health and wellness. The medical director and charge nurse will provides oversight, guidance, and be responsible for the overall program. The percentage of time allocated from the medical director and charge nurse is not reflected in the request of funds, but is reflected below as an in kind asset that is integrated into the immunization program.
.10 FTE Medical Director (MD): responsible for ensuring that state-supplied vaccine, including vaccine for children (VFC), is administered in compliance with federal requirements for administration of vaccine. The MD will oversee all staff who order, store, administer vaccine usage. The MD will ensure immunization policies and practices are in compliance with the Standards for Child and Adolescent Immunization Practices.
.15 Registered Nurse: pre-screening for vaccines and responsible for oversight of healthcare workers. This position is also responsible for procedures, testing, works collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. The R.N. promotes and restores patient’s health as they prescribe, provide, delegate, evaluate and coordinate comprehensive professional nursing care.
