Massive Retaliation is the threat of using nuclear weapons against the Soviets if they tried to seize a country not occupied by them and/or tried to expand there country by force. While Brinkmanship was the threat of using nuclear weapons to get an opposing country to back down/consed, Eisenhower used these effectively in the Korean war but there were saw as too dangerous. He used these to easily dispose of the Korean threat by threatening the use of nukes, and all the while, kept communism from spreading into Korea.
The Yuan (Mongol) dynasty ruled Asia, and when the Yuan Dynasty invaded Tibet in 1253, Tibet was incorporated into the Yuan Dynasty and Tibet has been a part of the Chinese territory ever since. The vast expansion of the Mongol Empire dominated Asia right through the 1300’s and through the collapse of the empire Tibet remained a part of the new Chinese territory and is called the thirteen province of modern day China that came about in the early 20th century. (Source I). The size of political importance of China outweighs the concern over the general well being of the Tibetan people.
The period from 1960’s to 1970’s was a hardship time for Americans because of Vietnam invasion. In an attempt to contain and defeat communism, the United States, oblivious of the enemy capability and filled with pride, invaded Vietnam at a cost of large financial expense and human lives. North Vietnamese military supported by forces of China and the Soviet Union fought the American force ferociously and was able to force America to end its invasion in 1975. As with most other third world countries, Vietnam also has a long history of colonization by European powers.
There were three main conflicts in the segregation days, the 1960’s. I will be getting into those topics. The first one is the Brown vs. Board of education, which was putting all races in one school. Another was that so many people started standing up in their beliefs, which was white people and colored people could be together. The last one was the Civil Rights Act that made it so all nationalities could use the same water fountain, restroom, theater, schools, and white and blacks could sit together on buses.
Many Asian American conflicts rose in the 1850’s. It was the age of gold, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world all took part in the Californian gold rush. After working for the transcontinental railroad many retired chinese laborers decided to strike it rich near the American River. Many native Californians, California residents, and even Transcontinental travelers heavily despised the Chinese.
