Good morning Miss Nightingale / McCarthy and students. Thank you to the producers from ‘The Discovery Channel’ for allowing me to present this pitch to you. I am certain you will agree that a documentary film on the experience of Chinese migrants in the goldfields a great idea. The Chinese entering Australia has been very beneficial for the country. This includes vast improvements to our variety of food, culture, economy and the social face of early Australia. My documentary is going to be called The experience of Chinese migrants in the goldfields. In promoting Australia being British in character however, Henry Parkes has said, “crimson thread of kinship runs through all Australians” (Parkes, 1901), referring to a common cultural heritage. They were often blamed for numerous acts they didn’t carry out, such as the outbreaks of tragic diseases. I want to show this is absolutely unfair and unjust. The Chinese miners were treated this way because of their difference in culture, clothing, long hours working and wastage of water which was required for their distinct mining
