Callarman’s argument is that Chris McCandless made a lot of mistakes because he was arrogant and that he had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness and he says that he was just crazy. I disagree with Callarman’s argument because I think that Chris McCandless (Alexander Supertramp) was not arrogant I think that he just wanted to learn new things. I also disagree because I think that Chris did have a reason to go to Alaska or else he would not have done it even if it just to go because he likes nature, and I don’t think that he was crazy at the beginning but I agree that he did start to get crazy when he was stuck in the wild on the bus. I don’t think that Chris is arrogant I think that he is just a guy who wants to learn new things about nature and just the world in general.
Into the Wild Essay Most people go into the wilderness to go camping for a week or less than a week, then leave. Some stay for more than a week. Chris McCandless was in the wild for at least one hundred days. “ I’ve decided to live this life for some time to come. The freedom and the beauty of it is too good to pass up.”(pg.92)
Why is Chris McCandless is noble, or brave? He is like this way because he is going to go against the status quote. He is doing actions that people would not normally do in today 's society. People today would not think of doing the sort of things that McCandless did, and ended up losing his life over it. He did things that we would consider slightly insane; mad, but he adhere to a doctrine of no safety and constant adventure, or he went, “Into the wild.
“Really, I think he was just plain crazy,” I do agree with Callarman because I think Chris was a little crazy for doing these actions. He was a very courageous for doing this because not many people would take a random trip to the wilderness because people would rather be in
In Fact Chris never gave up on his goal, as noted on Page 75 in the book Krakauer tells us “Chris cheerfully announced that he had “Recast” his goals and next intended to walk around the world living out of his backpack.” Ever since he had everything handed to him, he always wanted to live somewhere where he could find truth. In all honesty, Chris gave people gifts, in the book it says, “Alex insisted on giving Gallien all he had, and that if he didn’t accept it he would throw it away. ”(Krakauer 3) Chris felt that anything that he got from his past life would just be a distraction and he did not really need it. Lastly getting along with people, never giving up on his goal, and giving people gifts are reasons why being faithful kept Chris McCandless going on with his Journey till it led to his
Though Chris indeed had his flaws, more evidence points to him being sane. He was moral, made decent decisions for the most part and was intelligent and likable. He wasn't crazy, he was simply just
The line between rational and irrational thought is often blurred for some more than others. Usually when we cross this line into irrational thought our brain will let us know that what we are doing isn’t within reason. While many believe that Christopher McCandless was crazy and his ideas were ludicrous; I believe that he saw the line between rational and irrational thought very clearly, and that all though some of his ideas may have seemed crazy to some, he carried them out in sane body and mind. Chris was an extremist, a radical youth with different ways of thinking, and often we as a society tend to identify someone as crazy when we cannot comprehend the reasoning behind why a person would do something. Chris was not crazy, but he was
"I think that Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common sense, and he had no business going to Alaska with his Romantic silliness. He made a lot of mistakes based on ignorance. I don’t admire him at all for his courage nor his noble ideas. Really, I think he was just plain crazy."
Chris McCandless: A Reckless Idiot Chris McCandless was a reckless idiot and there is no denying that basic truth. Chris McCandless was a man born into a middle class family. Chris had parents that loved him, a roof over his head, and food to eat. Despite all those riches he had, he threw them away. Chris was a very selfish man.
In the movie “Into the wild” I believe Chris McCandless was a very stupid and arrogant character by going into the Alaskan wilderness only to die in an abandoned bus. He was a very likable person. Everyone enjoyed being around him, but sometimes I think he made a very dumb decision. Many people would agree with me by saying he was stupid for what he did. Chris grew up having a rough childhood.
Perspective of Christopher McCandless’s Life Callarman’s argument to Christopher McCandless’s is relatable and understanding, but he does not see the full picture. Christopher McCandless had everything in his life: money, material, family, prestige etc. but the only thing he wanted to fully experience is the outside world, to get out of his comfort zone and see how nature really feels like. I would agree with Callarman’s argument because he was arrogant and unenlightenment, but I also would disagree because he died doing what he loved and a place he wanted to be.
Above all Chris McCandless was an arrogant man. He refused many offers of help he got under the ground of that it was cheating. His arrogance led to him taking unnecessary risks which led to him encountering many hapless events. A quote from Into the Wild, his sister Carine said, “ Chris didn’t think twice about risking his own life, but he never would have put Buckley in any kind of danger (Krakauer 128). This really shows that without a person to keep a handle on him, to give him a conscience about what he was putting himself into, he was really the only one credible for his ultimate demise.
He wanted to go in there without really anything so that he can make things that were in the nature. “Chris didn’t think twice about risking his own life…”(Carine McCandless 128). I absolutely think that this quote about Chris is very true because he was so into finding new adventures to take, to enjoy and be happy with
Into The Wild was a tremendous story which Shaun Callarman did not have many positive things to say about Chris McCandless, the main character. He went on this adventure to find out what life is all about in his own eyes. He wanted to see how different living in the wild really was compared to society because he was not satisfied with his living arrangements and household. Shaun’s quote says that he thinks “Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common sense, and he had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness.
Although it may seem as though Chris McCandless is immature or reckless, he is actually rather admirable for his ideals because they allow him to live a life he is happy with. First, McCandless
