Religion is a concept that has been consistent throughout most our history as human beings. Some stay consistent, while new ones arise, and others diminish. Though there are many different various religions throughout the world today, a lot of them share many similar core values of how humans should go about life in an ethical manner. Not only does religion give us a way of life, but it also attempts to give incite on how life as we know it came to be and what happens when we are no longer apart of this earth. While the benefits of having a religious following seem insurmountable, it has also been the driving force at times for pain, conflict and death. Hundreds of years of violence between the two groups has produced infamous events such as the 1095 Christian march to the Holy Land in hopes of ultimately defeating the Muslims. This event propelled years of hatred and war which set the tone of future conflict. During the Reformation period of the Catholic Church, the crusades would end, but a great rift between Islam and Christianity had already been formed (History.com). Then, hundreds of years later the world would experience an event such as what happened at the World Trade Center. Such events have only increased the amount of tension between the two. A 2011 study stated, “61 percent of Americans expressed unfavorable views of Islam, while only 33 percent expressed favorable views” (Telhami 2015). As time continues to pass it becomes more apparent that there is a strong sense of misunderstanding on both sides of this feud. Research continues to highlight the amount of similarities shared amongst the two dominant monotheistic religions, while individual’s lack of religious education fuel the negative and misguided
