Christine Bacareza Balance article on “How it Feels to be Viral me” gives an example of how Asian Americans. or stereotyped. Balance explanation of a former USC student named Alexandra Wallace who posted a VLOG ranting about her experience in the college library. Wallaces rant was specifically target to Asian Americans. The VLOG received many responses but a particular response was from Jimmy Wong. Mr. Wong wrote, and sang a satirical love song specifically for Wallace. (Balance 668)

Asian Americans are usually portrayed as Dragon Ladies, Kung Fu Fighters, geeks/Technical Whizzes, foreigners/out of towers, and prostitutes. (Nittle) One Asian American actor who broke through the stereotypes in Hollywood was Bruce Lee. His success in the 1973 Film “Enter the Dragon portrayed him as Strong and Dignified lead. However, the downside is that his success and background created a stereotype which now projects Asian Americans in films as Kung Fu specialist. Actors such as Jackie Chan and Jet Li have had tremendous success due to their Martial arts experience. (Nittle)

A group which has tackled the issues of Asian Americas in mainstream media is Wong Fu productions. Wong Fu Productions was established in 2003 by students who met in a visual arts class on the campus of University of California, San Diego.
