Marinus Willett General Marinus Willett and how he helped the patriots win the Revolutionary war. Marinus Willett was the savior of fort Stanwix and the protector of Mohawk Valley. Because of Marinus Willett the patriots were able to win the battle of Mohawk Valley and use several hundred muskets that he single handedly took from a british wagon while they were trying to get all the muskets out of Boston. During the French and Indian war, Willett caught a very bad disease and was sent to Fort Stanwix while it was being built. Willett was sent to Stanwix because it was the closest American outpost for miles.
Joseph Luzzi Professor Dunn BUS 140 5 October 2015 Critical Analysis: 1776 Throughout the novel, 1776 by David McCullough, there are several events that occurred within history during this time frame. Starting off with the American Revolution, King George III being the leader, began the story by addressing the British Parliament in October of 1775. The author, McCullough, travels through history and recognizes the courageous, unbeatable, and historical legend George Washington, who lead the great and well know American military. George Washington, one of the founding fathers, truly valued responsibility and understood what it meant to be a true leader.
John Kennedy Toole’s A Confederacy of Dunces follows Ignatius J. Reilly in his journey through holding different jobs around the city of New Orleans. In his journal of his adventures as a working boy, Ignatius shows off his learnedness through his rather formal writing style in a setting that does not call for such. The decisive use of language develops the extent of Ignatius’s attack on Myrna’s philosophy on top of developing Ignatius as a character.

As a result of Christopher overcoming his fears and solving his internal conflict Christopher develops into a much more confident and capable version of himself.
Throughout Mary Rowlandson’s “A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration,” Rowlandson repeatedly makes mention to the idea of Puritan dominance over Native Americans. Rowlandson exemplifies this through the use of harsh diction, imagery, and biblical allusions. Rowlandson employs these methods in order to create a chasm between her people, the Puritans, and her captors, the Native Americans. Throughout the text, Rowlandson paints the Puritan community as “God’s chosen people,” justifying their forceful taking of Native land that lead to the onset of King Philip’s war. Ironically, many of Rowlandson’s techniques unintentionally portray her as more savage and immoral than her Native captors.

Throughout the novel Chris repeatedly did things that endangered his own well being. Even though it is illegal and even after he got ticketed for doing so, Chris hitchhiked across the country. Chris also burned most of his money along with his birth certificate and assumed a fake name while travelling. When Chriss’ body was found in Alaska, It took quite some time before he could be identified because he had not told his family where he was going and had no identification. Chriss’ lack of responsibility could have been due to his determination and bravery which would have made Chris throw caution to the wind more often than he should have.
In my opinion the most upsetting part about the article is when it told me that he sold little girls, killed babies, and killed the civilians for no reason but to have fun. My new feelings about Christopher
In 1897, under the guidance of of president’s Willian McKinley, the United States had the victory over the Spanish and American war in 1898. During this time, the American empire invaded Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii and the Philippines and became a big American Imperialism in U.S history. The United States decided to make Puerto Rico and Guam became an insular area under the sovereignty of the United States, organized territory but not incorporated in the United States. Hawaii became a parts of the U.S and last Philippines had rules under by the U.S for many years before gave them the right to self-government.
In 2007, the respondent Xavier Alvarez attended a meeting as a board member in Claremont, California, where he introduced himself as the following: “I’m a retired marine of 25 years. I retired in the year 2001. Back in 1987, I was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor” (United States v Alvarez 1). In fact, Mr. Alvarez had never received said award, nor had he served in the United States Armed Forces. As a result of making said false statement, Alvarez was indicted under the Stolen Valor Act.
He wanted to divorce his parents and flee from society. “No longer to be poisoned by civilization he flees and walks alone upon the land to become lost in the wild.” (Chris pg.163). Chris had been gone for two years living off the land and a few bags of rice to get him by. He had all the freedom in the world and then he started to realize that everyone makes mistakes.
The Patriot portrays a very historically inaccurate representation of the events, characters and context during the time of the Revolutionary War. The Patriot provides numerous examples of historical misrepresentations from inaccurate portrayals of character such as Benjamin Martin to slavery appearing to be something pleasant and acceptable. Throughout The Patriot a clear misconception is made in which it appears that slavery is really not such a bad thing and it is almost portrayed to the viewers as non-existent. The false pretences in which slavery is shown compare nothing to what slaves actually experienced during this time.
Throughout the course of Christopher’s life, he begins to realize that lying is not always the wrong thing to do. Christopher’s initial motto were alone the lines of, honesty is the best policy. Christopher said to the officer, “’Yes I always tell the truth.’” (Haddon 18) which strongly implies that he truly values honesty.
Christopher grew up without knowing much about the world and life it self. He acts as what many would say a child. This is due to his Aspergers. In the beginning of the novel Christopher explains what he thinks of life.
