The Jararaca Pit Viper On page 26 of his book, The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon, David Grann presents information on the Jararaca pit viper. He stated that the Jararaca is the most venomous snake in the Americas. One bite will cause a person to bleed from the eyes and become a corpse piece by piece. I found this interesting because I had never heard of the Jararaca and would like to research more information about them. Throughout my essay I will discuss the physical description, mating and reproduction habits, and behavior of the Jararaca pit viper.
Mariachi is a musical style that dates back to 19th century Western Mexico. From the 19th to 20th century, it moved from rural areas into cities such as Guadalajara and Mexico City, along with the Mexican government's cultural promotion gradually re-labeled it as Son style, mariachi becoming the word for the urban term. The name Mariachi was given to the 3 or more-piece secular music groups native to the western states of Jalisco, Colima Nayarit, Mitchoacan and Guerrero. The musicians would dress in white pants and shirts that the peasant farmers of the 18th century traditionally wore. Present day bands wear ‘charro’ suits.
People have moved to Michigan for various reason, but it all comes down to survival. At the time thousands of slaves used the underground railroad, which lays in the south of Michigan, to escape being used and abused. People want to be treated like people, but in the 1800’s African Americans freedom lied within their owner’s hands as if they were property. Henry Bibb wrote to his capture William Gatewood in 1844 from the underground railroad after he escaped the torture.
The most popular definition of a Chicana is a Mexican-American female who is raised in the United States. La Chicana “has minority status in her own land even though she is, in part, indigenous to the Americas and a member of one of the largest (majority) ethnic groups in the United States. She is a woman whose life is too often characterized by poverty racism, and sexism, not only in the dominant culture, but also within her own culture”1 The term Chicana was coined during the Chicano Movement by Mexican American women who wanted to establish social, cultural, and political identities for themselves in America. Chicana refers to a woman who embracers her Mexican culture and heritage, but simultaneously, recognizes the fact that she is
Imagine red glowing eyes, looking at you from the dark. The creature is roughly 4 feet tall, with a row of spines starting at its neck and ending at the base of its tail with fearsome fangs. It is reptilian-like with leathery greenish-gray skin, a large oval head, and bipedal -- standing and hopping like a kangaroo. You’ve heard its name before: el chupacabra. Translated literally from Spanish as “goat-sucker,” el chupacabra is famous for killing livestock and, leaving behind one to three puncture wounds in the animal’s neck, draining them of their blood.

My pregnant grandmother Petronila Machado gave birth to her baby son Cesar Obdulio Chavez Machado, who was named after his stepfather on December 10, 1953 in a small rural area known as San Pedro Arenales, Municipal of Chinameca, Departament of San Miguel in El Salvador. My father wasn’t born in a hospital. He was born in my grandmother’s home. Her home still exists today, and is the only adobe mud brick house in San Pedro Arenales. My father was always called Cesarito.
he Sonoran Desert Formed over millions of years, the Sonoran Desert is North America's most fascinating and ecologically significant desert that is home to a diverse mix of both plants and animals. Deserts are commonly thought of as harsh, hot, barren wastelands that are barely capable of supporting life forms. The truth is quite the contrary. Though deserts are Earths most hottest and driest climates, they are not all the same and each desert sustains different life forms in their own ways.

Part of my problem is that what I think and how feel about this issue are two entirely different matters. I know that unwanted children are often neglected, even abandoned. I know that making abortion illegal will not stop all women from having them. I also know from experience the crisis an unplanned pregnancy can cause. Yet, I have felt the joy of giving birth, the delight that comes from feeling a baby’s skin against my own.
