Tobacco cigarettes have many harmful carcinogens while e-cigarettes have little to none. “Constituents of cigarette smoke that harm health -- including carcinogens -- are either absent in e-cigarette vapour or, if present, they are mostly at levels much below 5% of smoking doses (mostly below 1% and far below safety limits for occupational exposure).” (Galloway). As a result, e-cigarettes produce less carcinogens than tobacco cigarettes and are less harmful than tobacco cigarettes and as a result of this reduce the risk of cancer in smokers. E-cigarettes also only produce aldehydes, an organic compound formed by the oxidation of alcohols, under certain conditions while tobacco cigarettes produce aldehydes when one is lit. “Under certain conditions, e-cigarettes may release high levels of aldehydes, aldehydes including Formaldehyde’(Methanol)`are released in tobaccos and contribute to its toxicity. Formaldehyde may be released when the e-liquid is overheated, when the e-liquid is low or the power setting of the e-cigarette is too high. Vapers call this a `dry puff’ that poses no danger to vapers because it is aversive. Normal vaping generates negligible aldehyde levels.” (Galloway). Consequently, e-cigarettes produce less harmful chemicals than a tobacco cigarette and as a result are less likely to lead to deadly diseases
