The city of Constantinople was flooding with money and the economy dominated the empire and the world. The city of Constantinople had a high demand for silk. They were the hub of the trade routes which led to them being rich, which made the roads very advanced and lit up for 24 hour trade. They had a very good economy from there wealth. They had a walls that surrounded the city and helped protect them from there enemies. The city also loved sports and would have chariot races. Constantinople was a very advanced city and with that came many great things. The city was determined to work hard and be successful, with help of their location and many other gateways to wealth. According to a historical video titled “Guided practice continuity and change in the Byzantine Empire” argues, “They had a lot of money and resources because of the trade routes”.I also used another historical video tilted “Constantinople” points out, “Constantinople had very good roads because of the demand for silk”. The video assumes that the city of Constantinople had a lot of money because of the trade routes which lead the byzantine empire to greatness. The city of constantinople had a lot of natural resources that other countries didn't have such as silk.There was a very high demand for silk because it was a rare natural resource and everybody desired it. The city was in the crossroads of europe and asia which allowed foreign cities to buy the silk. With the great location of constantinople, it allowed the city to trade and sell natural resources to other cities. The high demand for silk and other natural resources gave a lot of wealth to the city. Many greater things Constantinople had was the humongous walls surrounding the borders, huge sport domes called hippodromes, advanced plumbing and water supply, advanced architecture, and roads that were lit up 24hrs to allow trade all day and night. Cities/Countries around the world are following the ways of the great city of Constantinople. The video titled “Constantinople”, one of historical videos points out, “The city had lots of foreign traders and would trade natural resources”. Just like the city of Constantinople China was a big hub for exporting goods and natural resources. China is a very wealthy and advanced country. From many theories almost all goods are manufactured in the country of China. The city of Constantinople and the country of China were very alike. They both had high demands for natural resources and goods. The only thing that separates China and the city of Constantinople is that China is in our society and the Byzantine empire was 600 years ago. Just like I said in my thesis, the city of Constantinople was very important to the Byzantine empire and China manufacturers goods which is very important to the country. The Byzantine empire and China were similar when it came to how advanced they were. Donald L. Wasson that has taught Ancient/medieval history at Lincoln college points out “the city needed a good water supply and plumbing for their big city and lots of people”.Both China and the Byzantine empire were very advanced.
