The novel “City of Thieves” is about an adventure and a war that is written by David Benioff. The book is taken place during the World War 2 1941 from January 1 to January 7. The 2 major characters are Lev and Kolya, and it is their journey to find 12 eggs for the colonel’s daughter’s wedding. At the beginning of the story Lev is caught trooping and Kolya is considered as a deserter. Therefore, they are taken to the colonel and get a mission to find dozens of eggs. Lev and Kolya were the two main characters that moved the story towards the end and their personalities were impressed by the readers. Characters’ personality was believable, their actions made sense and it was clear to find out their development as a men. Firstly, it was easy to see the progress of Lev’s character. He was always scared, afraid, and kept on think of the worst cases. When Lev was inside the crosses, he was kept on keeping of getting shoot instead of thinking positively. He was too scared to even run away from the cannibals and to go inside the German’s house. However, at the end, he managed to kill Abendroth even though he was scared. He also got open with talking to Vika, learning about to talk to girls. His character felt like moving from childhood to adulthood and it was easy to figure out the progress. Unlike from Kolya compared to Lev, Kolya was always over confident about everything and he was an optimist person. When Kolya was at the crosses, he first came in as if he was looking for a place to rent. Kolya was always beside Lev to support him and watch he back because Lev was afraid of everything. He was a very helpful partner to Lev. However, Kolya’s character didn’t seem to change as the story progresses, it stayed the same from the beginning until the end.
