Mohandas K. Gandhi, an Indian nationalist who advocated civil disobedience, said, “You can chain me, you can torture me, you can even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind.”. In other words, Gandhi means that no amount of agony will cause him to change his beliefs. He implies that no matter what way he experiences abuse, the British will not be able to stop him and his fight for independence. No physical barrier can hinder Gandhi’s capability to stand for what he believes in. Throughout his life, Gandhi crossed paths with the police and was in and out of jail.
Both Civil Disobedience and the Gandhi article are alike based on the fact they both discuss civil disobedience, attending prison, and standing for one’s beliefs. Civil disobedience can be seen as a good thing and a bad thing depending on to what extent one is breaking the laws. Some people may break the law because they feel that it is unfair to them but others break the for the simple fact of doing what they want in order for it to benefit themselves. Laws are meant for the majority which means even if they are not pertaining to certain citizens. Thoreau targeted laws that pertained to him, Gandhi went on strike for the better of his country and people.
Susan B. Anthony was a strong feminist who gave her Women’s Right To Suffrage speech in 1873. Although she was white and was privileged in many ways more than minorities, she didn’t have as much rights as men at the time, for it was the sexist men who were considered the leaders of the country. They believed that women didn’t deserve rights, that they were only allowed to aide their husbands and their children. They couldn’t take on a responsibility a man could, and in her eyes, that was despicable.

A border wall would be necessary for specific reasons, such as drug control. Debate.org believes that a border wall will prevent drugs. Factcheck.org believes that a border wall will stop illegal substances from coming into this country. Lastly, blvdcenters.org believes that a wall will keep the drugs out. Nevertheless, a border wall would be a good resolution because it would keep the illegal substances and their smugglers out of what the people of America call home.
The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King is the G.O.A.T. He is the Greatest Of All Time when it comes to writing and delivering speeches. King has earned this title of G.O.A.T. because of how he can take a social group and mold them into a certain image to maximize the reaction of his words. In his speeches, King is very wise because he knew the best way to have his message remembered and push forward the civil rights movement was to get an emotional response. An emotional connection to a movement would result in more support and effort for the movement.
Civil disobedience is a way of protesting in a peaceful manner, and willing to suffer to receive what they want. To illustrate, in an interview with Dr Martin Luther King, Jr., he was speaking about civil disobedience in a democratic society. He mentioned that if a person wants to achieve something they need to be willing to go against the law or expressing something else in a peaceful manner, which they must be willing to suffer, so that they can achieve what they want. Martin Luther King Jr. uses both logical and emotional appeals in order for all his listeners’ to be able to relate and contemplate his speeches. He does an exceptional job using both these appeals throughout his speeches by backing up his emotional appeals with logical ones. Using emotional appeals captures an audience's attention and makes them think about what the narrator is saying. Emotional appeal uses intense words and charged language to grab listeners to get them to keep listening. On the other hand, logical appeals helps to grasp the concept better and provides facts that prove it to be true.
