I chose to read this letter because it appealed to me, because of soldier’s feeling toward the war and his writing, and I like how he uses plus sign (+) instead of (and) throughout his letter. His spelling is not extremely accurate throughout the letter, this demonstrates some sort of education., however, it is understandable.
Civil War soldiers spend every day in camps wondering when they would be ordered to move next and have their R&R. They lived an unpredictable, nomadic lifestyle. As they traveled around, soldiers often thought back to their comforts: home, family, friends, or loved ones.
