Civil War Theater Analysis

Ford’s Theatre was a sobering place to be. Looking across to the balcony were President Lincoln really put things into perspective about how high tensions really were during the Civil War era and lengths a person was willing to go to defend what they believed in, no matter how wrong. Sitting in the seats at the the theatre I couldn’t help but wonder what the people who were there that night felt. The excitement about knowing the president was in the room and then the horror after they realized what happened. The information center was amazing. They did a great job of framing Lincoln’s legacy and showing how impactful he was not only in the US but around the world.

Sitting in on the session was the most amazing thing ever. Sitting in the same room as 9 of the smartest legal minds in the world was earth shattering. It’s one thing to see pictures of them but to see them in person was something I will not soon forget and I will cherish forever. Our short time at the Library of Congress was amazing. All those names, all the lives lost and for what. The memorial does a great job of honoring the young men that died during this conflict and insures that their legacy lives on through the generations. It forces to think about the ramifications of war. The two statues one honoring nurses and the honoring men who fought was my favorite part. Because my mom is a nurse it furthered my appreciation for her and all the nurses that serve around the world. The second statue was impactful to me because it honored all men who served, no matter what color. The Korean War Memorial was impactful. Once again, it shows the impact of war and who it affects. The detail on the soldiers was amazing and the wall depicting those who served, animals, men, women served as a reminder that war affects all.

The Lincoln Memorial at night was amazing. Seeing it during the day is one thing, but a night it is truly a temple and the hill to one of the most amazing presidents in US history.
