Clay jensen was the hero in 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Clay demonstrated a number of various heroic acts that brought some peace to the death of hannah baker. He helped some kids see that accepting the truth and bringing people to justice is ok. He stood up for what was right and helped people get through some situations that arose during the novel. Though the biggest heroic action clay jensen performed was showing people that you can’t just brush someone off because their sad,you have to help them… because in some cases you’re their last chance.
During the book many kids were in denial that they had anything to do with hannah. They said i barely talked to her, or that they hadn't spoken since sophomore year so there's no way they could’ve impacted hannahs decision on killing herself, but clay jensen made them realize what really happened. He made them see that the truth of the matter was that their actions followed hannah for the rest of her high school life. Whether it be the rumours or the photos, or even just the feelings she had for someone. He was even truthful with himself that he too impacted her decision. He was smart about it though, he asked adults for input and took charge in bringing justice for hannah and whoever else was hurt by actions of others. He was a hero for this reason because he supported Jessica through her process of accepting the fact that she was raped. He didn't force her to do anything, but he stood by her and showed her support for whatever decision she would make. He also took it into his own hands to get evidence that bryce in fact raped Jessica and Hannah. He got his confession, though he did get the crap beat out of him, he didn't leave till he got the confession and had proof to bring justice for hannah and
