John Santangelo began his career with Cleveland Clinic Florida twenty years ago as an Electrical Engineer responding Networking Engineering job posting. Surprisingly, this began a long and fulfilling career in health care technology. When he applied for this position the organization was a small hospital, now he is an integral member of IT among the organization’s international network to include facilities in London and Abu Dhabi. John pursued further education by obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Service Administration and later received his MBA. He is now the Senior IT director of Information Technology. As the Senior IT director, he has several responsibilities for an organization that prides itself for being a multispecialty academic center (Cleveland Clinic, 2017). However, for the scope of the interview we discussed his role in patient privacy and security, electronic health records and software implementation. We discussed the importance of information technology security and the importance of maintaining patient security.
