That is because they are living. So they can observe and study their behaviors. What tolls they use, what do they eat and what is their everyday task? There is so much you can learn from them. However, for archeologist this is a bit difficult.
The question is, how does a physical or chemical change affect the mass of a substance within a closed system? To respond to this question, my group did a lab to determine whether or not the mass would change or not. Our lab was to have a plastic bag containing baking soda, then add a cup of vinegar and a block of clay to the mix. We made sure to weight every element separately and then add them up for our total mass of 31 grams before the reaction. During the reaction, as soon as the vinegar was poured in there was a gas produced, bubbles.
Fossils are the remains of prehistoric organisms that have been preserved in the earth’s crust, and have remained there since prehistoric times. Fossils have helped to give us insight into how creature from the distant past looked, moved, ate, grew, interacted with one another, and many other interesting and fascinating aspects of their behavior. During the 17th a man named Nicholas Steno wrote a book called “Forerunner to a Dissertation on a solid naturally enclosed in a solid”, in this book Steno discussed the differences between object formed within rock like crystals and object formed outside of rock, like fossils. Steno’s book was not very popular, and was not accepted by the scientific community of his time period, because they could
For the my articles or columns used, the shared topic was climate change and whether any actions will be taken accordingly. After reading and evaluating all the information, I have concluded that the article “Republicans Try a New Tack on Climate Change” (The New York Times) by Justin Gillis, presents a clear and well rounded argument that emphases on climate change, its effects on the environment and humanity as well as solutions to the issue. In the article, the writer presents most of their evidence in a logical and scientific way by having them be addressed by an expert: ‘“.. All those things have been ruled out,” said Drew Shindell, an atmospheric scientist at Duke University.” Unlike in the other articles, there is no expertise or claim
DeekshithKumar Thadishetti Professor mankerian LS 690 July 31 2015 Climate change is one of the global issue that requires multiperspective approach. One of the key cause of climate change is air pollution. Air pollution occurs as a result of release of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. There are two key sources of air pollution that should be targeted if the air pollution is to be reduced. The first source is the industrial stationay sources, which include electric power facilities.
Providing the judgement of James Hansen, Pollen includes, “The NASA climate scientist who began sounding the alarm on global warming 20 years ago, we have only 10 years left to start cutting--not just slowing--the amount of carbon we’re emitting or face a ‘different planet.’” (Pollen p.874) This illustrates the harsh reality that humankind is facing and lets fear be a wake up call to the audience with. As it can no longer will be an option to ignore or not be worried when scientists are sounding an alarm with an alarm that is bright red and beeping very loud. Pollen, himself advertises that we as a society are running out of time on climate
Imagine if all of Florida disappeared under the water. Millions of people would need to migrate up to other states, likely causing population issues in some places, and the culprit of the disappearance: Humans. More specifically, climate change caused by humans. Climate change is caused by greenhouse gas emissions, and that makes the atmosphere trap heat from the sun in our atmosphere. This causes the global temperature to slowly increase.
Prehistoric lives can be found out about by reading records from around or after that time period. Using logic as well as background knowledge can shed light on prehistoric life and what they were like.
Michigan and Climate Change The Earth is facing global warming worldwide. Almost every community has been affected in one way or another by the ever changing climate and its consequences. Specifically, Southeastern Michigan has started to see the consequences of climate change and it has brought significant changes to the ecological environment and the social and cultural scene as well. Climate change has brought negative effects to Southeastern Michigan including dangerous changes in weather, unfavorable transitions in health, and dreadful impacts on recreational activities, therefore, climate change has had a great impact on Southeastern Michigan.
Task statement: As a meteorologist I study the upcoming weather and climate and its impact on our planet. To research I will use books and credible websites on the topic. I will prove this with a website, news report and a packet with a quiz. Big Idea: There are past effects and current effects of weather and climate.
People may know about climate change and the drastic changes it is having on the environment, but what they may not be aware of is that another degree increase in the world’s average temperature will cause even bigger problems for people all over. Climate change is long term shifts in temperature and patterns in the weather. Greenhouse gasses, gasses that trap heat in the atmosphere causing it to warm up are at an all-time high due to humans and the amount of fossil fuels we use. The most crucial result of climate change is global health, but animal endangerment and the rise in sea levels are also very important effects.
Annotated Bibliography: How Climate Change Is Affecting Our Planet Controversy statement: Climate change is been debated for over centuries now. People all around the world are taking action and reducing burning fossils to minimize the gasses in the atmosphere. Many people believe that climate change doesn't exists. But there are a lot of controversial topics that proves that climate change is real. In my opinion, climate change is slowly killing us and destroying our planet.
The American archaeological study suggests that the earlier inhabitants of this land might
As shown in Document E, in less than 20 years, the length of ragweed pollen season has become on average 13.79 days longer, across the spread of central North America. Increasingly more people are becoming affected by these pollen seasons and all the consequences of climate change. Document F addresses all these concerns the doctors across the nation are finding to occur in patterns more frequently in the most recent years. As stated in F, “For instance, climate change is leading to longer pollen seasons, higher levels of pollen production, and more allergenic plant products- increasing symptoms among the many people that suffer from asthma, hay fever, and allergies.” The first frost of the year is being pushed back, allowing for allergenic plants to continue to thrive.
Throughout history Earth`s climate has changed a lot, and there is a lot of evidence that shows how humans have contributed to this changed and effected the Earth. Just in the last 650,000 years there have been seven cycles of glacial advances, the increase in the thickness and area of a glacier. As well as glacial retreats, a condition occurring when backward melting at the front of a glacier takes place at a rate exceeding forward motion. Most climate changes are attributed to very small variations in the earth`s orbit, that change the amount of solar energy our planet receives. The 21st century has seen the most temperature records broken in recorded history.
