Club Fest was an event on central campus that was a great way to find out what types of clubs and organizations there are on campus. Club Fest has clubs that set up a small booth and they have information that tells who they are and what they do. Club Fest is a great event to go to if you want to find out more information about clubs on campus. The professional development event I attended had Michael Kaplan giving a presentation on October 6th in Carver. Michael gave out tips for having a successful interview and stressed the importance of having a LinkedIn page. The major fair was full of information for nearly every major offered here at Iowa State. He also stressed the of proofreading everything before you send it out to a potential employer and the importance of sending thank you notes after every professional interaction. Overall I think Michael had some great suggestions and I would recommend anyone to go if they have the chance to see him. The major fair was very helpful as an open option student unsure of what their major should be or what careers one should be looking at. I was satisfied to see how well the event was organized and how helpful representatives from each major there were. Anyone who has questions about a variety of majors, but are unsure of who to ask could take advantage of this event. This event would be especially helpful if one was stuck choosing between a few different majors. I would recommend that students should take a survey online from career services at home or in class so, that way if they are completely unsure of possible majors the survey would give the students suggestions of majors they should look into. This way the student might find out about majors they hadn’t thought about before and could do some research on the suggested majors online if they wanted before they go to the majors fair and then could go get any questions answered that they might
