Teamwork is often a crucial part of our profession, as it is often necessary for Coast Guardsmen to work well together, trying their best in any circumstance. Teamwork means that people will try to cooperate, using their individual skills and providing constructive feedback, despite personal conflict between individuals. Teamwork is selfless. It focuses on the end goal. Teamwork runs on the concept that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. When the entire work force focuses on doing great work, however, the team members’ differences turn into strengths and goals are met and even exceeded. 5. One of the most important life skills to develop, for those just starting out in life and everyone else, is the skill of self-discipline. Self-discipline is the ability to do what you should be doing. Self-discipline often means putting off your immediate comfort or wishes in favor of long term success. But if you don’t develop self-discipline, it can cause problems such as: distraction, procrastination, clutter and many others which can lead to one feeling overwhelmed.
