Codes And Conventions Of A Mystery Book

A genre that I believe I know well would be the “mystery” genre. As a little kid I always loved the genre and the majority of stories I read fell under this genre. A mystery book targets older women that live a boring, mundane life. Mystery books normally start off with a dramatic opening scene that sets the story for the rest of the book and captures the readers attention, making them want to read on. Throughout the middle of a mystery book there are major plot twists that make it so that it is difficult for the reader to predict who the villain of the story is (a predicable mystery book is just boring). The story always ends with a confrontation, the protagonist catches the antagonist and they have a huge fight in front of the whole town.
