Problems. Dilemmas. Quandaries. Life is known for it. However, people fail to realize a critical technicality. There are two kinds of problems. Easy problems, which are naturally a part of life and hard problems, which are the ones that we create. Consequently, hard problems are the ones that have led to prolonged suffering. The biggest dilemma we as people have created for ourselves is inconsistencies in our beliefs. Thus, for the sake of human kind, cognitive dissonance is the problem I wish to resolve. Truly, cognitive dissonance is not new. It has made itself present throughout history. For us Americans, we begin our inquiry with those who “founded” America and its constitution. Hypocrisy is rarely a fond topic of discussion, it is for this reason people do not discuss that for exceedingly amount of people, conditions apply to one group of people but not another, hence why cognitive dissonance affects me. Living in America as a young black girl, I am thoroughly aware of the effects of people’s inconsistencies. I am aware of racism and lack of compliance I receive because of the complexion of my skin’s pigmentation. I am aware of sexism and the semblance I am expected to have as a woman. Furthermore, I am aware of individuals’ belligerence, as they continuously despise people they never met, based solely on ignorant assumptions. The racism, the sexism, the ignorance, it is the reason why I must work harder to prove my adroitness. Nonetheless, to resolve the racism, sexism and ignorance derived from it, people need to realize we are all human beings. We need to acknowledge that inconsistencies in our belief pose a dangerous threat. We must figure out who or what decided only certain people receive the benefit of the doubt while others suffer. We must hold those people accountable for their actions, they need to know privileges do not only apply to one group of people, it applies to all. Most importantly, we need to realize for all the time people have been on earth, the only consistency we managed is figuring out new ways to harm other people, from bows and arrows to atomic bombs. It is imperative we learn to focus on what makes us compatible instead of focusing on acts that ultimately lead to a prolonged cycle of torment and demise. Given these points, lack of consistent beliefs is a grave matter, which without proper acknowledgment has potential to become the deed that inevitably leads to a societal collapse that cannot be
