Introduction

This experiment is on how the different contents in 500ml Fizzy cold drinks react when Mentos Mint is added to it.

This experiment showed me how bad fizzy cold drinks such as coke; Fanta etc. can be for you and what it can do to the insides of your body. This was a fun project to do because you got a lot of knowledge on how Mentos can make a fizzy cold drink lose all of its gas, and how much of its liquid is lost when you add the Mentos mint into it. This also showed me that you cannot drink coke and take Mentos straight afterwards because it will play around with the acids in your stomach.

I chose to do this experiment because it is a very interesting experiment on how the different kinds of fizzy cold drinks react when Mentos mint is dropped inside the bottle.

The sprite did overflow but there was little loss of fluid.

The Coke reacted and overflowed a lot due to it sugar content.

The coke zero lost the most amount of fluid. A specific content aspartame was the content that made the liquid overflow even more that is why the coke zero lost more liquid.

My overall analysis showed that there was a reaction caused in all the fizzy drinks, though there were some that did not overflow. Through research it was found that the different ingredients in the fizzy drinks and the mentos mint produced carbon dioxide reaction and caused it to bubble up and in most cases to make the cold drinks to spurt out of the bottle.
